Escorted by your
professional driver/guide discover Versailles Palace
and its beautiful royal gardens and learn about the century of the Sun
King, Louis XIV.
You will have a guided
visit to the state apartments, the King’s own
apartments, the hall of Mirrors, Queen’s private apartments.
You will discover the
architecture of the chateau, the famous gardens “
à la francaise”, the Grand Canal, the Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon,
the Queen’s hamlet. You will also learn about the daily lives and
intrigues, court gossip and anecdotes about Louis XIV, his mistresses,
Louis XV, Marie Lesinka, Madame Pompadour, Louis XVI and Marie
Antoinette. You will be shown how even the construction of the palace
has done in such a way that the King could keep the nobles in their
places through the system of protocol and in giving a controlling power
to the bourgeoisie.
The French hierarchy

explain the King’s day, his life, and the curious hygiene – or lack
thereof – of Versailles.

Palace of Versailles was horribly
lacking in the basics of hygiene. Too many people lived there, without
sufficient commodities. The smell was so bad that the king ordered an
alchemist to concoct perfumes against
the odor and from this
time the French have been acknowledged masters in the perfume industry.
