This tour offers a Romantic Day in Paris:
The oldest parts in the city, the Marais district, the Latin quarter,
Notre Dame.
Then the picturesque Montmartre and the Sacred heart Basilica.
And at last the Louvre Museum.
Below are the descriptions:
(PH) Paris Historic
Paris was created some 2000 years ago and began at the Cite Island (Ile de la
Cite). With emphasis on the history and art of the Capital this tour includes: a
drive through the oldest part: the Marais district and its "hotels",
private town-houses of the nobility 3 or 4 centuries ago, the Latin Quarter with
the Sorbonne, the Luxembourg gardens, Saint-Germain-des-Pres district with its
old church and its famous cafes, a guided visit to the interior of Notre-Dame
Cathedral* and a short short transfer by boat to approach and leave the Cite
Island (unless the river is too high). Before returning back to Place des
Pyramides, you will admire the rigorous geometry of the Vendome Square and the
surprising architecture of the "Garnier" Opera, near the department
stores.
*In the case of mass, the guide will comment for you the beautiful facade
with its 3 portals but will not be allowed to speak inside the Cathedral.
(ML) Montmartre and The Louvre
A village is to be found on top of the hill of Montmartre crowned by the white
Sacred Heart Basilica so familiar to Parisians. Towards the end of the 19th
century, numerous artists (Van Gogh, Renoir, Picasso...) settled here with their
families to enjoy the simple and peaceful country life. The Louvre Museum is one
of the richest in the world. It is impossible to visit it all in a short time,
but a guided visit will show you the highlights.
The excursion includes: Ride up to Montmartre by coach and funicular, guided
walking tour of the village and Place du Tertre, visit on your own of the Sacred
Heart basilica. At the Louvre, more than one hour guided visit, amongst the many
works of art you will see the Venus of Milo, the Winged Victory and DaVinci's
Mona Lisa. No waiting on line at the Louvre with this tour.
